Bachelor Environmental and Industrial Sensor Technology

Climate protection - Industry 4.0 - Robotics. Whether you want to actively promote climate and environmental protection or are enthusiastic about the technology of the future: The study of environmental and industrial sensor technology provides you with the central fundamentals to develop and apply technical solutions for some of the most pressing issues of today.

Sensors are the keys to modern technology. In combination with the latest IT technology, including artificial intelligence, they are a factor of constantly growing importance for environmental and climate protection, but also for the automotive industry, consumer electronics, consumer industry, safety technology, mechanical and plant engineering or Industry 4.0: sensors are systematically used for testing, monitoring and automation.

In the Environmental and Industrial Sensors degree program, we introduce you to concrete tasks in a practical way. Even during your studies, you will have the opportunity to work where innovative research projects are carried out together with industry: e.g. in the Sensor Application Center (SappZ), the heart of sensor research at TechBase Regensburg, or in the Nanochem Competence Center.

Profile:Course structure and course programme [only available in German]
Degree title:Bachelor of Science

Welcome to the future & the world of sensors

They measure, test, analyze and are the "sense organs" of tomorrow's technology: sensors. Where they are integrated, technology becomes really exciting. Because small sensors and sensor systems equip technology with intelligence.

What characterizes the degree program

You always test your knowledge in a practical way on very specific topics, but you can still apply for a wide range of jobs after graduation: in regional industry as well as in smaller engineering offices or at research institutes.

Professional fields of application: from climate protection to robotics & AI

Solutions and ideas for sustainable climate protection, for smart cities, smart grids or smart factories, for Industry 4.0, autonomous driving or digitized agriculture - in all these areas, the know-how of environmental and industrial sensor technology plays an essential role. With your knowledge, you are just as much in demand in the development departments of industry as you are where the concrete application of sensor systems is concerned, for example in climate and environmental protection.

Do you want to actively shape the world of tomorrow with your knowledge?

Then this degree program is a great choice!

Getting your Bachelor's degree in seven semesters

The program is practice-oriented and comprises seven semesters. - The first semesters focus on the fundamentals of mathematics, physics and chemistry, which form the foundation of your studies.

In the course of your studies, we will teach you a broad spectrum of fundamental knowledge and applications of physical, biochemical and chemical sensor principles for the various fields of work in environmental analysis and sensor technology, industrial sensor technology, analytical chemistry and biochemistry. This includes a thorough knowledge and understanding of modern sensor materials.

Building on knowledge and skills for electrotechnical interconnection, data acquisition and programming, the processing of complex sensor data, the networking of sensors and the use of modern IT technologies form an important part of the curricula.

Practical relevance: lab work, internship & Co.

Part of your studies will take place in our physics and chemistry labs, in the atomic lab and in the clean room lab, which is second to none in Bavaria. The heart of research in the field of sensor technology is the SappZ - the Sensor Application Center, where we work together with industry on new projects. This is an immense advantage for our students: Because here they can work on real projects, complete an internship or thesis, and benefit from contacts with industry.

You can find out more about the SappZ here: https://www.sappz.de

What appeals to our students

Studying at our faculty is practical and a lot of fun. No wonder, because it has always been particularly important to us that students feel at home with us right from the start.
